Eilean Donan Castle glow |
I’ve visited Eilean Donan Castle in Wester Ross in the Scottish Highlands many, many times.
Situated on a small island connected to the mainland by a stone bridge on the shore of the Kyle of Lochalsh on the west coast of Scotland.
It attracts many thousands of visitors each year - many of them are photographers.
As one of the most iconic images of Scotland, Eilean
Donan Castle is recognised all around the world.
Situated on an island at the point
where three great sea lochs meet, and surrounded by some of the Scottish Highlands best scenery, it
is no surprise that the castle is now one of the most photographed and important
attractions in the Scottish Highlands.
This is a collection of images taken over many visits to the castle.

Every day is different at the castle - weather, tide state and time of day all have an effect on the finished image.

Eilean Donan Castle is actually located on a small island connected to the mainland by a stone bridge.

A number of small fishing boats can be found along the shores of the Kyle of Lochalsh. This one added a little interest to this image.

The castle surrounded by masses of mossy sea weed giving a different look to the scene. |

The bridge gives access to the island on which the castle stands. |

A slightly different angle with a couple of visitors taking photos from the bridge. |

Looking along a small stream, with reflections of the castle, the Scottish flag – the Saltire - can be seen flying to the right of the castle. |

Evening provides an alternative view as the castle is bathed in floodlights. |
